Our Hints and Tips photoshoot is on the theme depth of field, the location Rackham RSPB reserve, meet at 10am. We will meet at Rackham Old School where limited parking is alongside the road. If there are too many cars there is an RSPB car park very close so I will direct people there.
Rackham has a variety of photographic subjects including wonderful views of the Downs and across Amberley Wild Brooks with the amelanchier offering creative opportunities. There’s plenty more, I have photographed the single tree and the mill many times. Walking footwear recommended.
The theme is depth of field (the amount of an image that's in focus) so its trying out different apertures, focal lengths and distances to the subject. Perhaps experiment with all three on a single subject and see the results and how creative you can be. Try isolating the subject from its surroundings for example.
Relevant images can then be shown and discussed by all at the next Hints and Tips meeting on February 15th at Thakeham Village Hall. If you can’t make the photoshoot but can make the Hints and Tips meeting or would like your images shown at the meeting you’re very welcome to visit Rackham and take some photo’s at a time of you’re own choosing and enter these. For those interested we will then drive to the cafe at Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve for lunch or coffee and if any of you would like at guided tour of Pulborough Brooks I would be pleased to take the lead. There’s a charge for non members. Dogs are welcome on the Photoshoot but not allowed at Pulborough Brooks reserve.
Directions to Rackham:
- From Storringtom take the B2139 towards Amberley. Half way to Amberley turn right into Rackham Street (Rackham is sign posted) and continue to the school.
- From Pulborough its a little quicker if you take the road to Storrington and turn right just after the entrance to Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve. Continue to the T junction and turn right again then drive a short way and its first left. Pass the entrance to Parham House and continue. So from Pulborough, pass the entrance to Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve and its right, right, left.
- The post code is RH202EU.
If anyone is unsure how to get there we can meet and go in convoy.
I can’t guarantee Eagles but they are often there and a tree on the Wildbrooks is where they sometimes roost. 10% chance I’d guess. They were at Pulborough Brooks reserve this morning.
